Challenge
Sellers had no way to update their own listings. Every change — price, description, photos — required emailing the Baton team. Slow, frustrating, and creating unnecessary overhead on both sides.
The constraint: Baton operates in a regulated environment where every update requires internal review before going live. The solution needed to give sellers real control without bypassing the approval process.
Solution
I took on both PM and design roles — defining requirements, exploring directions, leading stakeholder alignment, and running user testing before build.
I designed three distinct editing experiences and presented them to the CEO, CTO, and engineering team. Two moved to user testing with real sellers: a dedicated edit page and an overlay panel that kept the listing visible in the background.
All six sellers preferred the overlay. The reason was consistent — they didn't want to leave their listing to make changes. Seeing it in context gave them confidence their edits were accurate.
"This is way better than me having to email back and forth with you guys."
